Cleaning domes using crome polish
Hello to all lightbarcollectors!
I have been using Autosol crome polish when I have cleaned my lightbar domes lately... Now I have noticed that sometimes there are showing up some thin scratches after I am finished... Anyone else here using Autosol to clean domes? Maybe I have been using too much power when cleaning with this metod? Regards cromwell |
Do you really use chrome polish for domes?:oh:
No good idea. I prefer plastic polish for the domes. And I use chrome polish for all metal parts. These are special polish for different requirements of the materials. |
I have been doing quite like this:

Polish is polish.
It`s always the same effect. It doesn`t matter what kind of polish you are using. The difference is, some polish is more abrasiv than other |
I have got a tube of Xerapol scratch remover, but I have not tried it yet.
Maybe it would be better than Autosol... |
Zitat:
I had polish for metal that was like acid on plastic. Without polishing anything, it ruined the plastic by bare contact to it. And, you're right, there are different levels of abrasive. So it might give some scratches on soft surfaces like plastic when the polish is made for harder materials. => Don't use metall-polish on plastic. Use plastic-polish or car/paint-polish. |

Here is another tip where they use Autosol metal polish on plastic
http://thepolishguy.com/2009/10/06/r...-with-autosol/ The advice there says "Using light pressure rub the polish in a tight circular motion with either your finger tip or a soft cloth". I think that I have used too heavy pressure when I have polished the domes.:tock: |
