ich habe mal in DEM Police Car Forum die selbe Frage gestellt und bekam diese Anwort:

Doing a skid to stop test to get the friction co-efficent for the pavement. The passenger pulls the lanyard as they apply the brakes and it shoots a 22 cal bullet in the pavement to mark the start of the skid. from there they measure the distance it took the car to stop and use it for a host of formulas.
